It’s that time of year again – Super Bowl weekend! It’s a time when everyone suddenly cares about sports, and tries desperately to understand Roman numerals. But, best of all, it’s a time when everyone gets to eat Super Bowl snacks.
Whether you’re out tailgating, or just at home on the couch, Super Bowl snacks are the most important part of any Super Bowl celebration. Let’s face it – half your guests are just there for the food and the Half Time Show. If you didn’t plan ahead, don’t despair! We’ve got all your snacking needs covered.
Super Bowl Snack Staple: Chicken Wings
No snack table is complete without chicken wings, and ours are about as easy as they can get! Thanks to our friends at Rowe Farms, these wings are sauced and ready to go! Just pop them in the oven, and you’ll be enjoying Sweet Peppercorn or Sweet Paprika wings in no time!
The Cheese Tray
Who doesn’t love a good cheese? Back around the holidays, we gave you our tips for making the world’s most epic cheese board, so we’ll just leave you to read that one again!
Chips and Dip!
If you do nothing else for your Super Bowl celebrations, make sure you’ve got plenty of chips and plenty of dip. Our pick for the best dipping chips: Neal Brothers Tortillas.
Now for the dips:
Starting simply, your best choice is Neal Brothers Corn Salsa. It’s just the greatest – trust me. Lots of flavour, and not too spicy for the delicate game-goers in your group.
Next up: a favourite of vegans and meat eaters alike, Sunflower Kitchen Hummus! Try the Curried Lentil Hummus with Spicy Cilantro Chutney for an extra treat:
Guacamole. Need I say more? We don’t have pre-made guac in the store, but we DO have some beautiful avocados, and Simply Organic Guacamole Mix. Put them together, and you’ve got a great bowl of guac!
And finally, for the truly adventurous, we’ll leave you with a Spinach Artichoke Dip recipe that even the vegans can enjoy!
Cashew Spinach and Artichoke Dip
Ingredients:
- 1 can Native Forest Artichoke Hearts
- 1 package Organic Girl Baby Spinach
- 2 Tbsp Le Petit Mas Garlic Flowers
- 1 cup raw cashews
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup Nutritional Yeast
- sea salt
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
Soak the cashews for 1 hour. Drain, and blend with water, garlic flowers, and lemon juice. Meanwhile, sautee the onions in oil. When they’re translucent, toss in the spinach until wilted. In an oven-save dish, fold the cashew mix, spinach and onions, artichoke hearts, and nutritional yeast together. Add sea salt to taste. Bake the dip for 20-30 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve and enjoy!
