Okay, so we don’t have a cool Buzzfeed-style quiz generator . . . and by “personality”, we really mean “dietary preferences and digestive foibles”, but stick with us! Here’s a breakdown of the ice creams of Moberly, and a handy guide to figure out which is the ice cream for you!
The “I Can Eat And Digest ANYTHING!” – Mapleton’s Organic
Made with all organic ingredients and fresh cream, Mapleton’s is gluten-free and salt-free and, with the exception of the Cappuccino flavor, nut-free. Mapleton’s is a local Ontario brand, and they get all their cream from their herd of 70 cows.
Choose this one if: you want ice cream like you had as a kid – delicious and full of dairy.
The “Dairy Might Be An Issue For Me, But It’s Not TOO Bad” – Hewitt’s Goat Milk Ice Cream
Because goats are more similarly-weighted to humans than cows are, their milk is more akin to human milk – less lactose, and a particle size that is more easily digested by humans. Often, people who have difficulty digesting cow dairy can enjoy goat bloat-free! Hewitt’s Dairy is also Ontario-based, and has been producing milk-products since 1887! Another plus in the Hewitt’s column – they sweeten their ice cream with honey instead of sugar.
Choose this ice cream if: you still want your ice cream from milk, but just can’t stomach the cow dairy.
The “Gimme All The Soy!” – So Delicious Ice Cream
Long-heralded as the ultimate dairy replacement, soy ice cream is creamy and delicious, while being vegan-friendly.
Choose this one if: you’re skipping the dairy, and can handle soy (no allergies, thyroid or hormone issues)
The “Coconutty Non-Vegan” – Screamin Brothers
As seen on Dragon’s Den, the Screamin Brothers started selling ice cream as a way to raise money for children’s charities – 5% of their profits are donated to children in need, both locally and internationally. The coolest part – the Alberta-based Screamin Brothers are kids themselves.
Their product is coconut-based, and free from the most common allergens. They are INCREDIBLY eco-conscious, and dedicated to sourcing local, ethical ingredients for their products. Their ice cream is honey-sweetened, so it isn’t suitable for strict vegans, but is DELICIOUS nonetheless (we are particularly fond of the Key Lime flavor).
Choose this one if: you love giving back with your snacking habits, and you’re looking for a cross between an ice cream and a sorbet.
The “Coconutty Vegan” – Coconut Bliss
Luna and Larry set out to create a delicious coconut-based alternative, and they succeeded. Most of the time, you won’t even know you’re not eating traditional ice cream! Available in pints or bars, Coconut Bliss is also gluten-free and vegan-friendly.
Choose this one if: you’re looking for a 100% vegan option and lots of flavor choices!
Summer is here (most days), so celebrate with ice cream that the whole family can enjoy! Did I mention we also have gluten-free cones?
